Wheal Leisure Mine – March 1937. The hanging wall of this shaft collapsed and carried away the sollar and fill thus creating the vast cone to be seen here.

The responsibility for making good this crater lay with the Mineral Lord i.e. the owner of the mineral rights and it is recorded that some 3,000 tons of sand was required for the operation.
