William Grubb “The first owner of The New Inn Goonhavern. 1828-1882 (Aus)
William & Mary ran the New Inn from 1866 to 1878, William also operated a stagecoach from the pub. The William Grubb family left for Australia in 1878.
William Grubb – first owner of The New Inn Goonhavern. William died in 1882 (aged 54) Mary Anne with the help of her older sons continued to run the properties. Mary Anne died in 1906 (aged 80), her son, Joseph went on to own the property called “Fletcherdale” which was then passed on to his son Jim. Ernest, younger brother of Jim, then bought and ran the property for aproximately 15 years before selling it in 1999 and returning to Monto where he had lived since ww2 ended. Ernest died in 2017 (aged 94) leaving 4 daughters & 3 sons.
