Mining in our Area

Cligga Mine – Oct 1962. The new headgear is complete and has temporary wheels at this stage. This work was undertaken by Foraky Mining Contractors whose sign is in evidence.

It is interesting to note that the lady who is the source of these two images is the daughter of the late J.B. (Jimmy) Hooper, the engineer in charge of these operations.

This headframe then went to Wheal Jane and finished up at Wheal Concord, outside Blackwater, where it still stands. Courtesy of Tony Brooks.
