Wheal Droskyn plus others – 1850

Oldest picture of Perranporth I know of, dated 1850. The 2 engine houses down in the Porth both belonged to Wheal Leisure. The one nearest the foreground was positioned in what is now Wheal Leisure car park and the one on the left was between Tywarnhayle Hotel and Greeen Parrot. Part of the chimney still forms part of the wall at the rear entrance to Green Parrot car park. The one on the horizon was Wheal Droskyn positioned high up in the grassy car park. Not to be confused with one that was much lower on Droskyn, but also working the Wheal Droskyn mine.
