Wheal Phoenix – Circa 1920’s (Blown up by MOD in WW2)

Wheal Phoenix Mine, near the northern end of Perranporth beach. This photograph is believed to have been taken in the 1920s and shows the pumping engine house. As the mine closed in 1874 the roof, although having lost most of its slates, is in remarkably good condition.
