Tank Engines arriving at Treamble Mine – 1938

In order to transport the ore to the Mill the company purchased two second-hand narrow gauge locomotives. These were 0-4-2 tank engines built by Kerr Stuart in 1903 and 1911 for Dolcoath Mine, Camborne, to work their extensive tramway system.

Since 1921 they had lain idle in their engine shed and consequently were in good condition, not having been exposed to the elements. We see one of the locomotives being re-railed by a traction engine at Treamble.
