The railway would have been opened through Goonhavern as well on 6th July 1903 were it not for this section of cutting taking so long to dig out because it kept collapsing in on itself or something like that! O well, at least the villagers didn’t have to wait too long for the railway eventually arrived on 2nd January 1905 though there would be no stopping place here until 14th August 1905 when Goonhavern Halt opened along with Mount Hawke, Goonbell, Mitchell & Newlyn and Trewerry & Trerice Halts. Perran Beach Halt was a late addition to the line only having opened in July 1931.
