My mother Doris Ross nee Freston was evacuated here with her brother George circa 1941 from East London with Arthur who I believe was Mayor of Truro. Also their son Ronald and cousin Morley. Arthur’s brother lived at Polgoda cottage.
Hi Susanne, You are talking about Arthur Grigg of Reen Cross Farm, which is just a mile from me. I am born here in Goonhavern on May 8th 1956. I knew the family well. Arthur was a Parish Councillor and Cornwall Count Councillor, don’t think he was Mayor, that is a modern concept here. Yes there was Morley who was a Trustee of our Village Snooker Club, Arthur Grubb’s brother Percy did live at Polgoda Cottage. Sadly they are all deceased now. There were a few evacuees in our village apparently.
