Fascinating glimpses of family life at a secret installation. There were 5 ‘Huff-Duff’ radio direction finding sites around the village controlled by this base in Bridge Road, used to get a bearing on submarines in WWII in collaboration with other bases in Scotland and Essex. The car in the background is probably a Ford Zephyr 6 Mk. 3, putting the date at least from 1962 and the installations were clearly active well into the Cold War.
