Gravel Hill Mine Shaft – Jun 2020
Pictured is a shaft that would have been associated with the Chimney (see other photos in this section).
It lies on the same alignment on flat ground, but further down the slope. Nothing now shows of the associated engine house that would have been close to the shaft. The chimney was further up the slope in order to obtain better draft. It would have been fed from the boiler house by way of a flue.
