Lambriggan Mine – 1930. All the major operations in this re-working were based on Main shaft, which was deepened to 400ft. This view of the plant was taken just after the mine had closed and illustrates the headgear and capstan shears with the two sheave wheels for hoisting as described in the previous photograph.
R.C.M. Robinson & Co. who undertook this venture did not achieve success for a variety of reasons the primary one being the prevailing low prices on the Metals market which as we now know heralded the great depression of the 1930s. An interesting footnote is the fact that in the 1970s an exploration company, a subsidiary of South Crofty, was considering the possibilities at Lambriggan.
