Mining in our Area

This is the stamps engine house at West Chiverton, destroyed in a military exercise in the 2nd world war. The boiler house, part of which can be seen on the left of the chimney is still standing, but in need of urgent attention. The 26″ engine was sold to South Condurrow mine at Troon in 1881.
