Goonhavern Sunday School Tea Treat – 1908

This photo was taken in the field where the bungalows are now in Bridge Road, where Alan/Pat Tonkin and Claire White/David Tonkin are. See Railway Cutting Fence on the left of the picture, also you see Railway Houses in the background where Shiela Wilcocks lives today. The field was offered to Ronald Grubb’s father for £40 before the last war but did not purchase it. Another venue in the Village used for Tea Treats in the 40’s was the meadow opposite the Sunday School & Mens Institute. The boy in the front row, sixth from left is a young Baden Powell.
