Treamble Mine late 1930’s

Illustrating the heavy earth moving equipment employed by Lloyds Perran Iron Co. when they were working the iron deposit. The anticipated lode widths were not met with after the excavation of a pit 250yds by 150yds and 7yds in depth. In 1940/1941 this company gave up the lease after open-working had been abandoned and underground mining commenced albeit in a small way. Thereafter the Government Home Ores Dept took up the property as by this time the Second World War had broken out and a shortage of iron ore was envisaged.
